Suffolk Diner

Today was a rainy day so me and armadillo went out to get a bite to eat. We went to the Suffolk diner.
Like most diners the meal was started with cole slaw. This was rather superb, better then usual. The size of the pieces were uniform and stuck together without being thick. It was the right consistency and though moist was crunchy. This is what I think of when I think cole slaw.

For an appetizer we got chicken fingers. Through out my days I've had many a chicken finger. These were headed in the right direction. The meat was flaky, not in the way that fish is though. It was strung together and I love that in chicken fingers. They were batter fried and for wider chicken fingers I much prefer it to breading. They didn’t need salt and they were served on a plate of lettuce, which always puzzles me. The honey mustard however was a disappointment. It came in a package, and I hate when restaurant do that. I couldn’t care less if it was just in a ramekin but having it in a sealed container just puts me off to it. The mustard itself wasn’t bad, but was rather strong and had the constancy of “melted cheese when you leave it out for a while". I didn’t let it get to me; I still enjoyed the fingers very much.

Yeah..... That’s two burgers with curly fries and onion rings on the same plate. Though they seem like a boring thing to order, the fact that there were 2 intrigued me. They were amazing burgers, better then something you could have at a barbecue. It had that Smokey grilled flavor (and the marks for that matter) but it tasted almost like what a fast food burger should taste like. Slightly greasy, but juicy at the same time. The curly fries at first were a bit too overdone and crunchy. As I progressed to the bottom of the pile they got softer and better seasoned. Probably and older batch on the top and a fresh batch on the bottom. Good fries in either case. The onion rings suffered from an age old problem. You take a bite and like a snake slithering out of its skin the onion is gone. This is annoying and I couldn’t really eat them. This was an awesome plate of food I’ve never seen 2 burgers offered at once that for me made it for me.

Lastly the lemonade, twas good! Wasn’t watery or too sweet, it tasted fresh and it was in this milkshake glass and that wins it cool points!

Overall a great diner take a ride over there if you feel like double fisting cheeseburgers.
