The First week of classes is over! Lets take a look at my last meal off campus and my first meal on.

A place my father always speaks highly of, Cozy Mel's. We met his friend Joe for lunch the day before I left. Ah, what a good meal it was.

Like most Mexican restaurants chips are mandatory before the seats are taken. Freshly made chips might I add. So fresh in fact that from my seat I could see the man making the tortillas. Excellent chips! The salsa was extremely flavorful, but a little watered down, regardless the pair was fantastic.

Joe insisted that I order a cup of this chicken, corn and tortilla soup. I thank him for that , I enjoyed it a lot. Big chunks of chicken and bits of corn made a great mouthful, especially with the crunchy tortilla and even a little rice. The broth was sort of spicy and was really deep. The idea of these kinds of textures in soup; something that I can certainly stand behind.

Fajitas are offputting to some, simply because you have to make them yourself. To these people I say, what better way to get something that you want then to make it yourself. With fajitas you have it your way, the way you want. I love that aspect about them. Whatever you want! Chicken, steak and the works all wrapped up nicely in a fresh tortilla! Everything was perfect, though I would of preferred the steak in smaller pieces. Its just easier to eat that way. A fine farewell indeed.

Welcome back to eating at Stony Brook! Apparently the food locations have changed owners and most things are prepared differently, so I get to take another crack at everything! As a result some entries will be shorter then usual .So here we have the old standby burger and fries.

Well firstly I do have to say that the quality has been bumped up quite a bit. The buns seem natural and the toppings are more lively! The meat was more or less the same, slightly overcooked, but that's subject to change from day to day. Overall more of the same, but we lost the sauces that were available previously, ah well! The waffle fries are identical, not much more to say. However I did sample a regular fry, it was glue inedible, thankfully though they have yet to appear once more. A safe start.

The legend that is sandwich guy will never die.Turns out his name is actually Food. I'm not kidding, Food Moy makes the greatest sandwiches in history. His incredible sandwich skills live on, only his ingredients have become superior. Look at that roast beef! Perfection! Everything got just a little bit better and it crowns the sandwich further into its rule! Also now the price includes a really tasty pickle and a bag of chips! Fantastic!

Indian meat pie from Benedict, nom nom. Basically puff pastry wrapped around spicy ground beef. I couldn't tell you if it was Indian or not, but it was pretty bland. Not a big fan.

Union Deli roast beef sandwich. Once again quality is buffed up. The rolls were honest to goodness rolls! Everything was better!

Union commons General Tsao's chicken. This seemed like a trade off, the original was sub par but there was a ton of it. The new stuff on the other hand is more true to what you would get at a take out place. A little spicier a little more meat, but less of it. I can't decide which I like better in this case. Either would be acceptable. The fried rice is once again uninspired, not bad.... but not anywhere near good enough.

Acclimating my stomach to school food is a process. Sandwiches usually are the way to go. Roast beef number three: "In a Box". A strange little box, perfectly cut for the sandwich. It was the weakest of the three, but it was the quickest by far. In case of emergency break glass. It was actually pretty good though. The roast beef was rare again! A good snack in time of need. Lets take another look at the box!

Pizza is identical! Still better then Papa Johns and Domino's!

The weekend sandwich makes a return, the chicken cutlet sandwich that is. As seen before in this entry the ingredients add to the greatness. The cutlets look a bit small though, we shall see as time goes on... Regardless my weekend staple is still as great as it ever was

I cant say the same about the brunch though. Sure all the classics are there, but this was just horrible. The only edible things on that plate were the patty hash browns, and those don't come from the kitchen ill tell you that much. We lost the omelet and waffle stations as well. " IT IS SAD DAY~!".

That leaves today: Pepper Steak. Tasty is the word of the day folks! This was just right, everything was cooked down for a while, caramelized and falling apart. Nice juicy bits that complimented the rice. Speaking of the rice, it was fluffy and slightly chewy.... in a good way! The platanos however were a bit to soft for my liking. Regardless the fact I can get this sort of variety is astounding.
I can only hope the quality of everything else has been bumped up as well! Then again You're already fed!
