The Greatest Meal Of My Life

It’s been a while hasn’t it? I’ve been busy with Christmas, but don’t fret because I have been recording all along. I’m going to take a time skip for this entry. I was taken to Vegas by my Dad and Stepmom as my Christmas gift. I cannot thank them even remotely enough for what I was treated to, without a doubt the greatest meal of my life.

The Fleur De Lis is by far the epitome of what a good restaurant should be. The service, the atmosphere, the tableware and most importantly the food were unparalleled. The greatest dining experience of my life.
The silverware was spotless, not even a smudge. It was changed after every course with the utmost precision. The glasses had sharp edges, really thin edges and I liked that for some reason. My water was filled about 8 times and that usually never happens. The service was constant without being over my shoulder. I was in heaven.

First we started off with a choice of breads, all served hot. I opted for the pretzel roll, and I wasn’t disappointed. It had the perfect amount of salt on it. This wasn’t your everyday pretzel, this was pretzle-fection. It was toasted and crunchy on the exterior and soft and moist on the interior. I also got to taste some onion focaccia bread. It was my stepmother and she graciously shared it with me. Even though I got the bottom half I could taste that the onion was melted into the bread. It had lovely nooks and crannies for the butter to melt in. This wasn’t even a course and I was in heaven. I couldn’t even imagine what could come next.

The amuse bouche was goat cheese served with beat and beat puree. The tartness of the cheese was countered by the sweetness of the beat. The sauces all different, but not by much were pretty good too. I liked the dark red one best it had the deepest flavor of them all. I liked this dish it was a great start.
We were then served tuna tartar on a bed of julienned fennel and micro greens paired with a ponzu sauce and sesame cracker. The tuna just melted in the mouth it was fatty and amazing, my god.... The fennel was prominent but didn’t overpower, same could be said about the greens. The tartness and saltiness of the ponzu brought the dish to another layer of flavor. The cracker was surprisingly sweet and knocked the kick of the ponzu off of my tongue. Excellent.

The next dish was a truffle onion soup served with julienned truffle, a red wine red onion reduction and a duck ragu inside of a wonton skin. The soup itself was poured into my bowl. This soup was creamy and rich I couldn’t get enough. It was my first time having truffle and I wasn’t disappointed. Very woodsy but gave the soup more flavors. Same could be said about the red wine reduction. The acidity cut through the creaminess and richness I loved that addition. It was my first time even tasting duck as well and even though it wasn’t actual duck I liked the flavor. It was nice to have alongside the soup. Fantastic!

Next we had veal ravioli in a veal stock reduction with sweet pea foam. The veal was great and the reduction very heavy. I would have liked this dish even more if there wasn’t any pea foam. Not being a pea or foam fan it hindered the dish. I liked it but the foam got in the way of me loving it.
Butter poached lobster with paprika foam on top of herb spaetzle and shiitake mushrooms. My first taste of lobster and I was spoiled. Each piece tasted very different but at the same time retained the richness and fattiness of the lobster. It’s not something I could eat a ton of but never the less it was delicious. This foam didn’t bother me as much and gave the lobster some heat. The spaetzle were chewy and well plain, but in a good way. Compared to the lobster it was a break for my taste buds, the shiitake giving just little bits of flavor with the spaetzle. I was in heaven.
The main course, venison with huckleberry reduction with potato puree. This was another first, first venison ever. I liked it can’t really describe it but it was tender and juicy. According to the old man it was a bit overcooked but I wouldn’t have known the difference. The huckleberries gave sweetness to the dish and I liked it with the venison. The potatoes were silky and buttery little crispy bits surprised me. Amazing, but I'm getting full.

The intermezzo (pre dessert dessert) was a passion fruit and coconut sorbet served with tapioca pearls, coconut milk and some fruit. Now I didn’t have any room in my stomach to spare and this dish was the only one I wasn’t crazy about. I’m sure it would of been fantastic to any fruit/coconut fan but not for me. Even so the one bite I had was rather good.

DESERT, MY GOD. A peanut butter milkshake, a molten chocolate cake with a chewy banana center and some baileys ice cream with a chocolate crisp. This was decedent to say the least. The milkshake was more of a peanut flavor than a peanut butter, but it was thick and creamy. The cake, well it was molten chocolate that’s all I have to say. The ice cream paired with the cake quite nicely and the crisp was just nice to have.

The greatest meal I have ever had. Thank You!

Been a long time brother

DID YOU LIKE MY GLASSES?
Its been almost 2 weeks lets update!!! These are going to be a little shorter than usual.

The dates are lost in my head but at some point in time I got another tray of boxed sushi. Quality was sub par and the texture suffered from being in the fridge. What I expected honestly was how it was. The California roll is hard to mess up and it was standard. The spicy tuna roll was rather well and kept its crunchiness and texture despite the frosty grip of the fridge. Decent at best and a little overpriced.
KELLY AGAIN TONIGHT OHH YEAHH. This time something went wrong though. It was still extremely good, but the chicken seemed rushed. It wasn't the same as last time, which goes to show that its not always perfect. Cornbread instead of biscuit I wasn't pleased but what the hell I gave it a shot. It was cakey and fell apart, I just ate it mixed with my potatoes. Kelly is always good.
Breakfast for the second time ever was this morning after after my 日本語のしけん. Bacon egg and cheese on a roll at the SAC, god it takes me back. A place by my aunts used to have the best kind of these and it came with a little Styrofoam cup of home fries. God I miss that place. This was edible nourishment. The eggs came out of a bottle which I loathe but the bacon was made in front of me so i can live with that. Not bad at all I'd get it again for a quick breakfast.

These were the best Tots I've had. They came fresh out of the deep firer and were godly. A fellow classmate of mine had to investigate about how to get our hands on some of these. Well worth it and paired the sandwich very well. Fried potatoes and a BEC the buddy cops of the breakfast world.

The other day I was on line to get a tasty quesadilla when i see a man with a tray, a man on a mission. In the union the Chinese place had ribs. OHH YEAH, gooey and meaty the meat was perfect. I was a mess there was sauce everywhere. Even when i got home that night i still had some on my hand. Great ribs 5/5 this is what they should taste like.

Benedict, hit or miss is the song it sings. Roast beef tasted decent but was rather chewy. The rice was very plain, it had nothing it tasted of nothing and I'm not a fan of Carolina rice anyway. The gravy was from a can and was really salty. Not something i would get again.

Brunch on Sunday at Benedict was the first breakfast I ever had here and it was only about 2 weeks ago. All you can eat for like 7 bucks its pretty sweet. The pancakes were fluffy and didn't fall apart in the syrup. The eggs were powdered and that's all I'm gonna say about that. The sausages were great actually. Patties from the freezer but they must of absorbed some of the residue on the griddle that gave them a little extra something. The potatoes were over seasoned and undercooked, Blegh. Oh and I had a cup of captain crunch freakin awesome. Not a bad deal but not great stuff either, Ill pass.
Finals are done this Friday and hopefully I will have more time to update and the like. I never stop eating

Oh God Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kelly's fried chicken gave me the first ray of hope I had. After doubting all food here the first week this was the best fallback a guy could ask for. Crispy meaty chicken, creamy mashed potatoes, biscuits that just fell apart and topped with a nice simple gravy. Just pictures this time words cannot describe.

Outback Two Times

This past week I have been to The Outback two times! Lucky me! It pains me that updates are so sparse, but school has been taking my time and internet here has been killing my entries mid way. I soldier on!

First thing you get at the outback is this lovely pumpernickel bread. Warm and soft with a little bit of sponginess. A little bit of butter and man this is good stuff, if you've been to the Outback

you know the power of the bread.

The first time this week(actually a week and a half ago but who's counting?) I went with Zak. Another thing the Outback is known for is the bloomin onion. Its basically a fancy onion ring that you pick each individual slabs out of. Its pretty good, but it gets a little greasy after a while. Its served with a zesty dipping sauce its strong but it doesn't stay in your mouth long. A good appetizer for a table of people.

Now I've never had soup from the Outback before, and I was surprised. This was baked potato soup: bacon, cheese and chives. This was incredibly creamy and tasted like , who would of guessed ,a baked potato. It was hearty and warming like a soup should be! An excellent soup!

Now last night Bill took me out and we got coconut shrimp as an appetizer. I'm not a fan of coconut in the slightest, but these were palatable. Good sized shrimp and fried golden these were great even for me. They were served with an orange marmalade which I don't have a particular stand on.

This was a burger with the works, it had everything. Onions, bacon, mushrooms, cheese, tomato, pickles, lettuce. You name it it had it. The burger itself was cooked perfectly and was a great burger in its own right. The toppings might of been too much to handle and definitely had and intense flavor. Just a little too much at once.

Now Last night I had another burger, but this time it was just enough. Picture a bloomin onion on top of a burger. It was Fantastic, the onion pieces gave a great crunch. The sauce complimented the burger and gave it the zing that give it such life. This was definitely the better of both burgers and I would probably order it every time if there weren't more enticing items on the menu.

The fries (pictured below) are very seasoned fries. I like that, everything at the outback has a certain seasoning that's just indescribable. Its spicy yet doesn't overpower. The fries themselves are meaty, but are still standard cut. it feels like there is more potato in them. Crispy enough, sometimes a little soft. I like them
